The Crone has been kept awake with worry: Kraft, the slicey cheese company, has acquired Cadbury’s, makers of the Crone’s favorite chocolate. No good can possibly come of this.
Cadbury chocolate-one of today’s great tastes
Cadbury products were a staple of the Crone’s diet when she lived in the UK, and still today she always buys a bumper pack of Cadbury Flake when she passes through Heathrow, and falls excitedly on a bar of Dairy Milk (or two) should she come across it in a gourmet store in the US.
Kraft, it seems; is the second biggest packaged food producer in the world and has made a fortune selling not very nice stuff to millions. Their cheese makes no claims to owe its origins to cows– but they’d better not mess with Dairy Milk.
Irish, idiosyncratic and often in your face, Liz Barron lives in the Blarney Abode, Itchy Ankle, Chesapeake Bay, Maryland, USA. Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, she has family in the UK and Ireland and two young adult children who are American through and through. She is fortunate in her friends. Her correspondence with Doris Brazil, an elderly retailer in the South of England, has propelled this blog to readership unimagined by either lady writer. The Blarney Crone is currently struggling with her weight, enjoying her garden and trying to get her children launched in life. Please read on.
Seems @Susan_Rae1 will waken remembering (a little 2 late) why she doesn't usually drink. Hope her throat, importantly, is feeling better ;) 2 days ago
