Key calamity continued

Gentle readers, the Crone made it back to Itchy Ankle, thanks to the excellent services of Dillon’s bus company (Connecticut and K, NW, to Wayson’s Corner) and Kathy from Barter on the Bay, who works at the Throbbing Temples. Kathy takes the bus every day and showed the Crone the drill, then she drove miles out of her way to drop the Crone at her own front door. Tis the season of goodwill to witches, for neighbors Barkis and Peggoty then lent the Crone their ancient rattling Isuzu Jeep, the Jolly Green Giant, so she could ride around Itchy Ankle running festive errands and paying not-so-festive bills. Further, Judy, the world’s greatest realtor, then lent the Crone her laptop (the Crone’s having succumbed to a killer virus) so, despite all her fears to the contrary, the Crone has been both mobile and connected this weekend. The only casualty of the key calamity? Gretel, who was forced to spend the weekend with her nieces, without transportation, and sans computer. Bad news on the best sale days of the season, and when a girl is itching to spend Amazon vouchers, sent courtesy of the Crone’s family 3000 miles away. And yes, before you ask, the spare key was in the dresser drawer in the Futility Room ( so called because the laundry and the vacuuming is never done for good), nestling alongside the scissors and the scotch tape, just where it was supposed to be. Truly, a Christmas miracle.
