In Praise of Arapes

“All superior cultures have fried bread” So opined the Crone’s traveling companion, a noted food critic, over breakfast more than once this week. On each occasion the Crone has beamed with pride. Tom was talking about Puerto Rican arapes—and the Crone was thinking fondly of soda farls and potato bread, the national foods of Northern Ireland.
