Haiku for the Nation’s Capital

No-one knows what was

In Washington D.C. then

Only what’s there now.

Before the Mall and

Long before the Monument

Did dinosaurs roam?

Up on the Hill were

There old and gnarly relics

With sad too small brains?

In the swampy marsh

of mosquito misery

Who ruled here then?
