No Blue Plaque for the Blarney Crone

Just look what Doris Brazil unearthed in the Appleton Marsh Sue Ryder shop! HOCO POCO (Head of Commemorative Objects, Plastic, Onyx, Ceramic Only) at the BBC had this fired just before I set sail for America all those years ago. I hadn’t realized I was quite so much of a shoo-in for the top job but I can promise you that public service resources were very tightly marshalled back in the Birt era and so I  am sure someone’s head rolled for jumping the gun. Sadly this plaque never got to hang on the Blarney Abode on the Holloway Road and Doris and Flo are now using it as a trivet in the DBLW staff room. Pause to sigh for what might have been ladies, and pass the gingernuts.
