Are you Protestant LDS or Catholic LDS?

Today the hairdresser taking care of my pre-conference blow-dry asked me a question I’ve never been asked before. Not “when did you last have it cut?” or “what way do you part it?” or “how did you get your scar?” but rather “Are you LDS?”

I asked her to repeat the question a couple of times before I worked out she was more interested in my faith than my follicles: she wanted to know if I was Mormon and worshiped at the Church of the Latter Day Saints.

I explained that the Mormons aren’t big in Belfast, and if they were the people of my home town would be asking them: “Are you Protestant LDS or Catholic LDS?”
