Hansel to the rescue once again

It is lovely and quiet here, thanks for asking.

Hansel came home about 10pm (sporting his new do) and I immediately forced him up a ladder to look at the beeping smoke alarm. He pinched or flipped the medallion-sized disc in the middle of the inside of the cover and so managed to detach the cover from the wall, while leaving the dangling wires appropriately covered. Once the disc was out of the way, we could see there was a trapdoor to a battery, which was dead. Of course, we don’t have a replacement battery the right size but that can be sorted out this morning.

Hansel took about 10 seconds to fix a problem that had been driving me doolally for hours. I hate that smoke alarm.

Yesterday, Hansel also moved the following from the DC apartment, all by himself:

2 sofas (one went to my office, the other to Gretel’s room in Itchy Ankle)

2 enormous mirrors

A queen size mattress and bed frame

2 tables of various sizes

3 sets of drawers

1 wardrobe

1 TV

Numerous bags and boxes

I drove the UHaul, which was surprisingly easy and very good fun.
